Online and telephone counselling offers many benefits in this ever-changing world. Regardless of the way in which we work together, our sessions will always be held in a confidential, safe space.
Online or telephone counselling can be done within the safety of your own home or chosen place. Our sessions can be at a time, place and pace that suits you, for example, during a lunch break or after work. Through working online or telephone, you have the options of having a counsellor who is out of your area meaning that you aren't restricted by location or travel time. This can also give another level of anonymity if that is something that is important to you.
It is recommended that you use a private, safe and quiet space, where you will not be interrupted, to carry out your online or telephone sessions. This way, you will be able to explore any difficult issues without the worry of being overheard. It is essential that I, as your counsellor, offer the same in return to give you confidentiality and a safe, non-judgemental space for you to speak openly. I will always be alone, uninterrupted and using earphones for our sessions- so our conversations will never be overheard.
Telephone and online counselling can help with many of the same issues as face-to-face counselling, such as anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem and confidence issues, loss and family relationship problems.
Online counselling is carried out via secure and encrypted web platforms, you can work from your computer, tablet or phone. Just like telephone counselling you’ll need a private safe space to have your counselling session. If there is a problem with working online,, for example if there is an issue with internet, we can transfer to continue on the telephone. When working online, if it is possible, I encourage you to use a personal private password protected computer or device, as well as a private e-mail address for our therapeutic exchanges and I will do the same. Virus and spyware definitions are regularly updated on my computer, I ask that you carry out similar safety precautions on your own computer.
Telephone counselling works on the same principle other than we cannot see each other. Some people find it easier and more comfortable to express themselves and can have an extra feeling of being anonymous through using the telephone.
Contact me for more information and within the free telephone consultation we can talk about what type of counselling will suit your needs. We have the option to change the setting if you would like to try a different way to have your counselling session.
